Cayla and Alex | Backyard Wedding

Cayla & Alex, where do I begin? These two are straight out of a Nicholas Sparks book; they knew each other in high school, but didn’t start dating until after graduation. They bought a beautiful house in New Richmond, Wisconsin, a nice piece of real estate. On their property resides a large pull barn where the previous owner, from what I understand, kept a small charter plane inside. One side of this structure opened from floor to ceiling. Here, Alex and Cayla decided to host the band and dancing. The back of this barn opened to a vast field where the sun would set later that evening. In the year leading up to their wedding they transformed this building into an exceptional venue. A few of the renovations consisted of two well-crafted bars the length of one side with a wood burning fire place separating them. They used reclaimed barn wood to refinish all four walls. And, to top it off, there was a perfectly placed record player directly across from the bars. Let me tell you, this bar was one only some could dream of. The happy couple and their friends and family will get great use of it in the years to come, I am sure. From what I’ve been told, Cayla and Alex would go out during the renovations, throw a few logs in the fire and lay a blanket on the cement floor, enjoy a glass of wine, and enjoy each other’s company while listening to a hand-selected record. These two are adorable; they have a room in their house just for dancing.
Rustic Elegance could not be happier to have planned this wedding. When meeting with Alex and Cayla to finalize the details and itinerary of their backyard wedding, it felt as if I were meeting with old friends. Joe, their fury companion, would always be there to greet me in the driveway upon arrival. Cayla always had glass of wine for me and we would chat the night away. Cayla is an Independent Hair Stylist at Two Redheads and a Wolf so I am fortunate to say we continue to meet up like old friends. I could talk about these two forever, but let’s get to the fun stuff.
Rustic Elegance hits the road by 9am. My assistant and I stop for our morning coffee then set out for Wisconsin. I know I say this a lot, but we seriously could not have asked for a better day. When we arrive, we begin setting the ceremony site which will take place down the hill near the creek in the couples’ backyard. The ceremony décor consists of Shepard hooks that have mason jars elegantly hanging full of fresh flowers as well as wood benches and a few rustic chairs to provided seating for the intimate gathering.
The dinner will take place under the tent that they have rented. The farm tables are dressed, some with cobalt blue vases, and two succulent plants grown by the family placed in birch wood planters, and others with pure white vases.Guests enjoyed dinner and toasts under the tent as the Bride and Groom sat upon their vintage couch at the head table. Following dinner were handmade pies/desserts made with love by Emma.
The couple transformed the greenhouse on the property to be a cute little "kissing" booth/photobooth. The evening was full of love and laughter and they danced the night away to the sweet music of the band!
Some times we get to drive really fun toys when we work backyard weddings-which we love :) And we thought this wine bottle gift was a super cute wedding gift idea by one of their guests, so we couldn't help but share this idea!
I want to personally thank Alex and Cayla for feeling like family and to all the vendors who worked so professionally and fluidly throughout the day. If I could do this day over again, I wouldn’t change a thing. I love you both and wish you the world on your future endeavors!
