Jenna + Michael | Backyard Wedding
Jenna + Michael were so A M A Z I N G to work with as we planned their backyard wedding. The couple opted to get married in a church and enjoyed an open air reception in the bride’s parent’s backyard. The backup plan was to use their shed, and we were worried that with all the rain during the week leading up that we would have to use the the backup plan instead of the beautiful yard. Thankfully, Mother Nature blessed the couple with the rain stopping, yard drying up, and a bright + sunny wedding day! The night before the wedding, lead planner Kellie stayed in the town of New Ulm for the evening and enjoyed dinner at a super cute little place in downtown.
The Rustic Elegance team of Kellie + Andrea arrived the morning of the big day to help set up the tables/chairs outside in the lawn with the groomsmen. After those big items were set out, we began the detail work - setting out the rest of their decor. The couple had a Jenga set as their guest book, which guests were to sign a piece [what a F U N keepsake!!]. The couple also gathered photos of their family to make a family tree display which we loved. On the back of the tree were photos of the couple over the years - so fun to see each stage together. Their seating chart was made of an old window, such a C U T E idea. For the head table, G&K Event Rentals provided beautiful wood harvest tables. After all of the decor was set up, Kellie headed to the church while Andrea held down the fort and greeted the vendors as they arrived.
The ceremony at the church was short & sweet, then guests headed to the backyard for cocktail hour and dinner. The guests used mason jars as their drinking glasses and then were able to take them home [fun idea + saves on garbage]. During cocktail hour, guests enjoyed yard games that included Hammerschlaggan. Next, it was time for a yummy buffet style dinner provided by Gutes Essen Catering and Deli. After dinner, the dancing started with the couple’s first dance to “You Make It Easy” by Jason Aldean. The dancing took place outside under the large trees in the yard.. It was one of the most romantic settings ever! The string lights hung from tree to tree enhanced the romance even more. DJ Matt from Showtime Productions kept the party going all night long under the stars!
