THE PLANNING
Laura and Marshall were such an amazing couple! We had the pleasure of working with the groom’s mom, Deb, throughout the planning process, who is just the sweetest gem of a person! Their ceremony took place at Olympic Hills Golf Course, but due to covid they decided to move the reception elsewhere. We helped coordinate this joyous reception which took place in Deb’s amazing backyard. We arrived to help with setup the Thursday before the event, so we were there when the tent was delivered. We worked with Apres for the tent and other rental items and per usual, they were amazing to work with!
THE MORNING
The bridal party started out their day by getting ready at Olympic Hills. While they were getting prepped for the day, the RE team was busy prepping the reception site, making sure all was set up perfectly. The couple rented a few items from us including our tables, barrels, bar, table numbers, and more! We also made sure that all of the vendors were set and ready for the wedding crowd to arrive post-ceremony.
THE CEREMONY
Although we were not present for Laura and Marshall’s ceremony, we just had to take a moment to talk about how stunning it was! The couple did their first look before the start of the ceremony which was so sweet! Mattea Rose Photography then captured a few photos of the couple and group pictures with the bridal party (such a fun group)! Then it was time for the ceremony! The couple provided custom masks printed with their names on them for guests to wear. The ceremony was so special, filled with tears of both laughter and joy!
THE RECEPTION
After the ceremony, the guests made their way to the backyard in Orono for the reception. The property had a little barn on it that made the perfect location for the bar, cocktail hour, buffet lines, and dancing. Throughout the night we kept 3 fire pits going and set up a super cute smores stations by them. The smores were individually wrapped due to covid, and we think these looked super cute!
As dinner approached and guests began to take their seats, we got word that Vesuvio’s, the caterer, was running just a little behind. We had to think quickly so we wouldn’t fall too far behind on the schedule. We decided to do speeches before dinner to allow more time for the caterer. This turned out really well and went smoothly! Dinner ended up being delicious and worth the wait! Guests then grabbed their own desserts which consisted of individually boxed cupcakes from Sweet Retreat. The packaging was due to Covid, but we actually think this is a great idea for outdoor weddings where bugs may be an issue.
After dinner the DJ, Instant Request, started playing music in the barn. The couple had a sweet first dance to “Is This Love” by Bob Marley while a video of them played in the background. The mother-son dance was to the song “Beautiful” by John Lennon and the father-daughter dance song was “Sweet Pea” by Amos Lee. Instant Request then opened up the dance floor to all guests and it was packed, such an energetic and fun group of people! We made sure the floor stayed clean of glassware and spills so that the party could continue safely. Later in the night the RE team placed out late night snack baskets of individually wrapped chips, cookies, and popcorn which the guests greatly appreciated!
Laura + Marshall we absolutely loved helping out on your big day! We hope that your married life consists of as much fun and personality as this day did!
Thank you to Mattea Rose Photography for these great pictures!
